Amanita Muscaria is a sacred mushroom with Indigenous roots in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Siberia, and Russia. She has been used ritualistically for divination, dream healing, extrasensory perception, channeling, and religious rites for thousands of years.

She has a deep connection to the Winter Solstice and the legend of Santa Claus. This red and white mushroom would grow beneath tall pines. During the dark of winter, especially around the Winter Solstice, she would be harvested by Sami healers and hung to dry in socks by the fireplace. Reindeer would be seen eating the mushrooms and jumping high in the air, almost as if they were flying from the effects of the mushroom.

The poisons of this mushroom would be filtered out by the Reindeer and Sami herders would collect reindeer urine, consume it, and experience the visionary effects of the mushroom without ailment.

Once purified, she was also used for energy boosting, yet also for her analgesic, anxiolytic and sleep aid effects.

Now, this essence is simply vibrational in nature, no need for urine drinking or intense side effects.

My experience with this essence and Spirit of Amanita is a deeper connection to playfulness and fun. She brings about mental clarity, quieting thoughts and aiding meditation. During the day, I feel brighter and almost giddy while communing with the essence, more creative and aware in the day to day. At night, she illuminates my dreams, giving them an otherwordly feel, revealing profound insights, energy healing, and rich symbols to meditate with upon waking.

I enjoy pairing her with Rosa Rugosa Essence for heart guidance, love, clarity, and a deeper connection to community. The night I brewed this essence, I had a dream where I was sitting in a woodland council with two of my friends who were having a disagreement at the time. They were speaking their hearts to each other, airing out their differences. I was sitting as witness in the dream and could feel the energy of the Rose move through my chest. As I was sitting in lotus, I noticed a speckled, multicolored snake weaving around me. The snake playfully jumped at me and it woke me up. Once I woke up, I had this knowing that it was the joyous spirit of Amanita that had been present. Her teaching in the dream was a reminder of playfulness and also focus, as she jolted me into deeper awareness of her presence.


There’s much to be discovered in the communion with this essence. Her wisdom is profound and this essence brewing felt like the introduction to a deeper relationship with her Spirit.

In short, I see this essence as primarily a tool for dream healing practices. Furthermore, I see it as a guide in day to day use for quieting of the mind, meditation, creative ideas that bring community together, and overall clarity and focus.
